Kinga Firlej

Kubica, Academy of Music in Łódź

Kinga Firlej - Kubica was born in Łódź. She had begun piano studies at Primary School of Music in Łódź and had continued musical education at Secondary School of Music in Łódź. Since 1997 she had been studying at Academy of Music in Łódź as a student of prof. Tadeusz Chmielewski. She graduated with distinction from the Academy of Music in Łódź with master of art degree in piano playing in 2002.

She has been employed as a postdoctoral fellow in piano department at the Academy of Music in Lodz since October 2011.

Kinga Firlej achievements include:
- the Ist prize on the Chopin International Piano Competition in Vilnius (Lithuania-1999)
- prize on the XXXIV Polish Piano Festival in Słupsk (2000)
- the Ist prize on the XIVth International Chamber Music Competition in Łódź (2001)
- the IInd prize on the XIIIth International Chamber Music Competition in Łódź (1998)
- the IInd prize ( the Ist prize was not taken) on the IInd Chamber Music Competition in Toruń (1994)

Kinga Firlej - Kubica has appeared on the stages in Poland ( Warsaw, Wroclaw, Łódź, Cracow, Szczecin, Katowice) playing with orchestras, as a soloist and a chamber music player in duo or trio. She also has given concerts abroad : in Luxembourg, Germany, France, Holland, Lithuania and China ( 2004, where she has made the TV recordings).

During piano masterclasses she worked with Bernard Ringeissen , Lazar Berman , Rudolf Buchbinder, Wiktor Mierżanow, Halina Czerny-Stefańska, Aleksiej Orlovietsky.

Since 2007 she has been performing with Wojciech Kubica in piano duo, and since 2006 - with Janos Balint and Ewelina Zawiślak in flute trio.

In 2001 Kinga Firlej - Kubica had recorded audio CD together with cellist - Dominik Połoński containing chamber music ( J.Brahms and R.Schumann pieces ) for polish recording company - DUX. The CD was nominated to FRYDERYK award in 2002.
In 2015 and 2018 pianist recorded audio CD with flutist Olga Leonkiewicz with Fantaisies by Paul Taffanel and American Flute Music also for DUX.
Last three: "Flash Flutes", recorded together with flutists Ewelina Zawiślak and Janos Balint for Ars Sonora, was released in 2016; recorded with pianist Wojciech Kubica with Schubert Fantaisies, was released 2018 and with Mateusz Wojtkiw with Jongen Flute Sonata, was released in 2023.

She has made many recordings for the radio and TV.
